Navigating an Ambiguous Path

The Problem

Homeowners and buyers are particularly concerned with optimizing property energy efficiency, especially when regulations become increasingly strict. To address this need, the Energy Advisory service provides clients with a clear overview of a property's current energy status and outlines the necessary renovations to improve energy efficiency. This service effectively answers their questions and guides them towards making their properties more energy-efficient.

Navigating an Ambiguous Path

The Energy Advisory feature is meant to empower our realtors in Germany with a deep understanding of energy topics. By equipping them with this knowledge, we ensure they serve as reliable brokers for their clients, fostering trust and informed decision-making.

Additionally, this feature reinforces Engel & Völkers' position as an innovative brand, adept at embracing new topics amidst a rapidly evolving business landscape characterized by changing legal regulations and the impacts of climate change on energy resources.

Decluttering Problem

To reduce complexity and deliver immediate value at the start of the sales process, we divided this feature into two phases: an initial quick check and a subsequent comprehensive renovation plan with associated costs and projected energy savings.

FIRST STEP: QUICK CHECK

Using basic property information, we perform a quick check that provides the broker with detailed insights into the property's strengths and weaknesses. This information helps the broker accurately price the property for the market and address initial queries from potential buyers.

SECOND STEP: RENOVATION ROADMAP

Following an on-site visit by an external partner, a full renovation plan is created. This plan identifies specific areas of the property that need renovation and details how these improvements will enhance energy efficiency and reduce annual energy costs.

  • Big challenge was to decide which piece of information was more valuable and how much of detail we should offer to the user. It should the deep and complete enough to bring confidence but also easy to understand and focused on actions that would meet agents tasks.

Initial Check

During the initial check, we aim to provide information that helps the broker present relevant details to the buyer and the seller. To make the information more accessible and understandable, the user interface is divided into two sections. Each section highlights the most relevant information from the perspective of each client type, ensuring clarity and focus for both parties.

Calculator

Once the complete roadmap is finalized, the broker will have access to a renovation calculator for the property. This tool displays all items to be renovated along with their associated costs. The interactive calculator enhances transparency for clients and assists potential buyers in making informed decisions, planning, and prioritizing their renovation budget.

Main Takeaways

Team alignment is crucial for effective design solutions, as it ensures that all members share a common vision and goals, facilitates clear communication, and supports collaborative decision-making. When a team is aligned, it fosters consistency, efficiency, and better problem-solving, while also boosting morale and motivation. Misalignment, on the other hand, can lead to confusion, inefficiency, and fragmented results, making it challenging to produce a cohesive and successful design.
